State Senator Dean Cameron has been appointed as the Idaho Director of Insurance as announced today by Governor C.L. Otter. The appointment is effective June 15 and is subject to Senate confirmation next year. Senator Cameron will step down from his legislative seat before beginning his new job.

Senator Cameron is currently chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and co-chair of the Legislature’s Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee (JFAC). He also serves on the Senate Commerce and Human Resources and Resource and Environment committees. He also is co-chair of a legislative Task Force on Health Care. He owns a business marketing life and disability insurance, group benefits and pensions, and securities investments with partner Todd Seamons.

Senator Cameron received an associate’s degree in political science. He also became a Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow in 1992.
