On June 22, 2026, the Texas Department of Insurance (the Department) issued a news release (the Release) titled “TDI Prioritizes Transparency by Making Home and Auto Data Public.” The Release explains that the Department has “created resources to give Texans access to data the agency collects about home insurance claims and premiums and home and auto rate filings.” Texas Insurance Commissioner Amanda Crawford commented that “by putting this information online, we’re strengthening transparency and giving Texans a clearer picture of the claims being paid and premium amounts where they live.” The Release includes links to four new webpages with sources of relevant data. The first page, “Texas Homeowners Losses by County ,” provides statistics regarding the types of losses and amounts paid in claims since 2019. The second page, “Texas Homeowners Insurance Market Overview,” shows annual premiums in each county as well as rate changes, rate filing information, and information about specific companies’ premiums since 2019. Third, the “Search Home and Auto Insurance Rate Filings” page allows users to check whether specific insurance companies have recently filed rate changes with the Department. Finally, the Department includes the HelpInsure.com tool for consumers to shop for insurance, allowing them to “compare sample rates and policies and learn a company’s financial rating and complaint index.”
