On March 25th, Governor Tim Walz issued Executive Order 20-20 (the “Order”) directing Minnesotans to stay at home or in their place of residence except to engage in the Activities and Critical Sector work described by the Order. For purposes of the Order, homes or residences include hotels, motels, shared rental units, shelters, and similar facilities, to the extent they are used for lodging. The Order does not restrict virtual work or telework. Governor Walz encourages Minnesotans working in any field to work from their home or residence as much as possible.
Referencing the Department of Homeland Security issued Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce: Ensuring Community and National Resilience in COVID-19 Response, Minnesota has classified insurance as part of the Critical Sectors (Financial Services) described by the Order.
The Order goes into effect on March 27th 11:59 PM through April 10, 2020 at 5:00 PM.
Locke Lord will continue to monitor these events.
