Last week, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”) announced that it has changed the name of its New York office (the “NY Office”) from the “Securities Valuation Office” to the “Capital Markets and Investment Analysis Office.”  The name change is in connection with changes made to the responsibilities of the NY Office.  According to Dr. Therese M. Vaughan, NAIC Chief Executive Officer, “The Capital Markets and Investment Analysis Office will take on an increased role in assisting states to monitor investment risk. It will also serve as a center of expertise to help federal policymakers understand the interaction between the insurance sector and the broader capital markets.”  The NY Office will also now provide frequent public reports on industry trends and issues.  The responsibilities of the Security Valuation Office will continue as a division of the NY Office.  For a copy of the official press release, click here.
