Latino Insurance reported recently that total premiums for the general insurance market in Argentina grew by 32% (US $695 million) in 2008 to US $2.899 billion.  Accordingly, the sector reportedly grew from 59.84% of the Argentinean insurance market in 2007 to 66.30% in 2008.

Percentage of premiums retained also reportedly increased slightly year over year from 80.26% (US $1.769 billion) to 81.97% (US $2.377 billion).
