PwC published a report in September 2008, which gives an insight into how foreign insurance companies within the Chinese market view industry trends, the challenges they are facing and how they consider the insurance market in China will grow and evolve over the next three years. The report is based on interviews with 28 foreign insurance companies currently writing business in China either directly or indirectly. There are 115 insurance companies operating in China, managing Rm3.19 trillion ($470 billion) in total assets. Of this number, 43 foreign affiliated insurers from 15 different countries are operating with a total of 134 branch offices.
