Mark Meyer, a partner in the London office of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge, attended the recent seminar hosted by Lloyd’s in Tel Aviv, Israel, to mark 60 years of trading with the country. The Lloyd’s Chairman, Lord Levene, and Deputy Chairman, Graham White, were both present. There were approximately 50 representatives from the Lloyd’s market who were joined by about 250 of their counterparts from the Israeli insurance market. The Chairman expressed his appreciation for the way the two markets had continued to trade through some difficult times and his wish to see the relationship flourish. Delegates heard an interesting address by the Israeli Insurance Commissioner, Yadin Antebi, focusing on the sub-prime crisis and presentations from various Lloyd’s syndicates on the casualty, medical malpractice, political risk, financial institutions and D&O markets.
