On October 24, 2007, California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner issued an emergency declaration in anticipation of claims resulting from the Southern California fire storms. In issuing the declaration, Commissioner Poizner authorized insurance companies and licensed adjusters to use non-California licensed adjusters in compliance with the requirements of California Insurance Code § 14022.5 to assist in the prompt processing of claims. However, all outsourced work must still be supervised by California licensed insurers or adjusters. For the complete text of the declaration and press release, click here.
