The Illinois Department of Insurance (“DOI”) has issued a notice of proposed amendments to the Insurance Department Consumer Complaints Rule ( 50 Ill. Adm. Code 926). The amendments will permit the DOI to share information related to a complaint against an entity licensed or registered under the Insurance Chapter (215) of the Illinois Compiled Statutes with criminal justice agencies or governmental agencies if the DOI believes that the reported activity by the DOI regulated entity may violate other laws or regulations.
The proposed amendments were included in the Department of Insurance Regulatory Agenda posted in July 2016. No meetings or hearings regarding the amendments were scheduled. Persons who wish to comment on this proposed rulemaking may submit written comments to the DOI no later than February 13, 2017.
