Edwards Wildman Speaker: Robert W. DiUbaldo

12:00 PM – 1:15 PM (Central Time)

Please join us on August 28 from noon to 1:15 pm (Central) for this free webinar. Attorneys from Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP and Surdyk & Baker, engineers from St. John-Mittelhauser & Associates and underwriting and claims professionals from the Catlin Group will discuss the recently enacted Illinois Hydraulic Fracking Regulatory Act and its potential consequences, and will answer your questions.

Illinois, Indiana and Western Kentucky sit atop one of the largest shale formations in the U.S. The New Albany Shale formation in the Illinois Basin-encompasses some 53,000 square miles and is estimated to contain over 85 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, not to mention oil that could also become accessible. While large-scale hydrofracking has occurred in other shale plays around the country, including the Marcellus and the Barnett, large-scale fracking has not yet occurred in the New Albany.

All that may be changing, very soon. The Illinois Hydraulic Fracturing Regulatory Act was signed into law on June 17, 2013 and, contains requirements for permit applications, insurance, well construction, drilling, chemical disclosures, water quality monitoring, air emissions, enforcement and penalties. The Act has been praised by industry, environmental groups and legislators as one of the strictest pieces of fracking legislation ever proposed.

This webinar will address the recently passed Illinois Hydraulic Fracking Regulatory Act and what it could mean to industry, municipalities and landowners in Illinois, including:

  • Permitting issues
  • Environmental protection and best practices
  • Public disclosures
  • Public hearings
  • Insurance requirements/potential insurance issues
  • Potential litigation issues
