Governor Martin O’Malley announced the appointment of Therese Goldsmith as Maryland Insurance Commissioner, effective June 13, 2011.  Ms. Goldsmith has most recently served as commissioner of the Public Service Commission of Maryland.  Prior to that, she was a partner at Hogan & Hartson LLP in the firm’s white collar litigation practice group.  Her practice focused on government investigations, health care fraud and abuse, claims brought by the government or private whistleblowers under federal and state False Claims Acts, and issues arising under the HIPAA and state privacy laws.
