The 18th annual Convencion Internacional de Seguros recently took place in Colombia, with the potential ramifications of the international credit crisis taking center stage together with the pre-planned agenda regarding catastrophic and political, social and financial risks.

In his opening address, Dr. Luis Fernando Mathieu, President of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Colombian Insurers (FASECOLDA) addressed the conference and the president of Colombia, Dr. Alvaro Uribe Velez, concerning the global credit crisis and its potential impact upon Colombia.  In particular, Dr. Fernando stressed the importance of cooperation in managing any impact on the Colombian economy between the private sector and governmental bodies, including the president’s economic team, Congress, the national bank and the financial regulators.  For a copy of the address, please click here.
