On June 30, 2008, an announcement was made that Sharon P. Clark will be the next insurance commissioner of Kentucky effective July 16, 2008, replacing current acting commissioner John Burkholder.  Ms. Clark is currently an administrator in the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, and has spent over 17 years working in various parts of Kentucky’s state government.   Prior to her current position, Ms. Clark spent fiver years as director of the Consumer Protection and Education Division, and has worked for the Public Service Commission and the former Work Force Development Cabinet.  The Kentucky Department of Insurance is an agency within Kentucky’s Public Protection Cabinet.
