Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons recently announced that Nevada Insurance Commissioner Alice A. Molasky-Arman will retire on September 7, 2008.  Molasky-Arman was appointed in 1995 and served under three different governors, making her the longest serving insurance commissioner in Nevada history.

During her tenure as Nevada’s Insurance Commissioner, Molasky-Arman supported legislation that established a reinsurance program for health insurers, instituted a captive insurance program and launched a statewide media campaign regarding fraudulent insurance.  She was also the chairperson of the National Association of Insurance Commissioner’s subcommittee that addressed the problem of unauthorized insurance.  In 2005, she was honored with the “Captive Insurance Person of the Year” award at the first Nevada Captive Insurance Conference.  Molasky-Arman was also named the “Insurance Person of the Year” at the 58th Annual Convention of the Nevada Independent Insurance Agents and one of the “Influential Businesswomen of Southern Nevada” in 2004 by In Business Las Vegas.

The search for Molasky-Arman’s replacement is in progress.
