Health Insurance

Maryland:  On July 30,  the Commissioner Birrane issued Bulletin 20-30 to all health carriers offering individual health benefit plans regarding the suspension of individual health benefit plans cancellation and nonrenewal for nonpayment of premium.  Pursuant to the Bulletin, effective immediately, health carrier are to suspend health benefit cancellations and nonrenewals of individual health policies for nonpayment of premium.  

Massachusetts:  On July 29, Commissioner Anderson issued Bulletin 2020-25 to update Bulletins 2020-02, 2020-16, and 2020-12 regarding COVID-19 testing. Bulletin 2020-25 discusses the Division of Insurance’s expectations regarding carriers’ easing of administrative billing for PCR or antigen testing for COVID-19, including that carriers should develop administrative systems to cover new laboratories performing testing, and relaxing carriers provisions for processing of tests through non-laboratory providers.
